Avengers Assemble - Written by Steve Orlando, art by Cory Smith, ink by Oren Junior, Elisabetta D'amico, and colors by Sonia Oback
I can easily say this is the most "In" I've been on a comic in recent years. When the one shot of this team came out in Avengers: Bloodhunt, I knew it was the comic I wanted to read forever. Avengers Assemble is a simple premise, lets get back to the 70s and 80s era of Avengers. Mansion. Jarvis. Big table. It hits all the spots that recent Avengers titles have neglected for too long. The simple concept of threat of the week versus a rotating team of Avengers is so simple, yet it works SO well. The return to the silver age of Avengers comics is ironically a huge breath of fresh air for Marvel Comics. And the team dynamic is perfect. It's definitely too many Avengers, but the rotating door mechanic works perfectly. If you have ever liked any Avenger story then this is the must have Marvel comic of the year. We need more! And the art from Smith and company is unbelievable, some of the best I've seen this year. Their Captain America is awe inspiring, and Sin looked so badass in the entire issue. Pick it up!
2) Vengeance of the Moon Knight #9 - Written by Jed MacKay, art by Devmalya Pramanik, colors by Rachelle Rosenberg
I've been saying it for years, but MacKay's Moon Knight run is going to go down as one of the most solid runs of this decade. The stories are intense, the arcs never last too long, and it does an incredible job making you care about the secondary characters. This issue is the perfect conclusion to the story, with the Shroud facing justice, Marc coming to terms with his debt to Khonshu, and sets up the next Moon Knight series very well. I highly recommend collecting MacKay's run, between his story, the variety of talented artists, and Rachelle Rosenberg's incredible use of colors, this is the superhero story you need to read.
